Lunar New Year Greetings
for CreativeBC

Every year since 2021, I have had the great honor of helping CreativeBC celebrate the Lunar New Year by designing a cover for a greeting card for its community.

With full creative freedom granted by the client, I have been able to draw on the Chinese ink painting training I acquired in my younger years and incorporate meanings and symbolism from Chinese culture into the designs. For example, for the year of the rabbit (2023), I added the Chinese character calligraphy ‘生'. The character means "alive" or "life" and sounds similar to ‘3' in Cantonese and Mandarin. ‘3’ is considered one of the lucky numbers in Chinese culture because of this. My dream is to keep designing until we have all twelve of the Chinese zodiac signs!
